I am a Registered Psychologist and trained teacher and am currently in private practice in Vancouver, Victoria, and Calgary. I have specialized in the areas of child psychology, infant and early childhood mental health, and caregiver-infant/child attachment.
I provide evidence-based assessment and therapy to parents (including foster and adoptive parents) whose infants/children have challenges with sleeping, feeding, self-regulation, behavior, development, and attachment. I think of myself as an archeologist of the mind as I work together with parents to help improve their parent-child relationships. Given my background in teaching, I also provide consultation to daycares, preschools, and schools about how to incorporate practical, attachment-based strategies into the classroom to help strengthen teacher-student relationships. I offer training and supervision to professionals in infant and early childhood mental health and parent-child attachment and am teaching at Vancouver Island University. I am also a court-appointed expert witness in these areas and collaborate with professionals to address the developmental and mental health needs of children in foster care. I interned at Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario and completed post-doctoral studies at the University of Texas. Previous work experience includes several years with the Alberta Health Services (in the Preschool Autism, Feeding Consultation, Developmental, and Neuromotor Clinics) and 14 years in private practice.
